Shares of Pinterest, Inc (NYSE:PINS) rose sharply in today's pre-market trading following strong first-quarter earnings and upbeat second-quarter guidance.

Pinterest's first-quarter revenue increased nearly 23% year-over-year to $740 million, which beat the consensus estimate of $699.872 million, according to Benzinga Pro. The company reported a loss of 4 cents per share, which beat analyst estimates for a loss of 9 cents per share.

Pinterest shares climbed 17.3% to $39.26 in pre-market trading.
