Bitcoin Tops $44,000 Following Jobs Data; Osmosis Emerges As Top Gainer

Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) moved higher, with the cryptocurrency prices trading above the key $44,000 level on Friday.

Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) also edged higher, trading above the key $2,200 mark this morning.

Osmosis (CRYPTO: OSMO) was the top gainer over the prior 24 hours, while Sei (CRYPTO: SEI) turned out to be the biggest loser.

The U.S. economy added 216,000 jobs in December versus a revised 173,000 in November, and compared to market estimates of 170,000. The unemployment rate in the U.S. came in unchanged at 3.7% in December, compared to market estimates of 3.8%.

At the time of writing, the global crypto market cap rose to $1.66 trillion, recording a 24-hour gain of 0.4%. BTC was trading higher by 1.5% at $44,007 while ETH rose by around 0.3% to $2,243 on Friday.
