Ubisoft's Upcoming Assassin's Creed Red Faces Protagonist Leak By Senior Writer

Author: Franca Quarneti | October 23, 2023 04:44pm

Ubisoft Entertainment SA's (OTC:UBSFF) highly anticipated Japanese-themed Assassin's Creed game, referred to as "Assassin's Creed Red," has experienced a protagonist leak, reportedly by one of the game's developers.

The leak was initiated by Ubisoft senior writer Pierre Boudreau, who temporarily changed his LinkedIn cover photo to what is believed to be the protagonist of Assassin's Creed Red, only to revert it to Eivor from Assassin's Creed Valhalla shortly after, Eurogamer reported.

The leaked image features a female assassin wielding a katana in front of a red background with the Japanese Assassin's Creed logo and a pagoda.

This provides a glimpse of the game's setting in feudal Japan. Assassin's Creed Red was officially revealed in September 2022, positioned as the "next premium flagship title and the future of open-world RPG games."

It appears to follow the style of Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Odyssey rather than 2023's Mirage, as indicated by a brief concept trailer showing an assassin leaping across rooftops at sunset.

Although there is limited official information about the game, a LinkedIn post from another Ubisoft employee in July 2023 hinted at a 2024 launch date.

This adds to a history of leaks surrounding the Assassin's Creed franchise, with notable instances such as Assassin's Creed Unity, which initially surfaced when a Ubisoft employee divulged details to a fellow passenger on a plane.

If the 2024 release date proves accurate, Ubisoft might aim for a holiday season launch, much like Mirage, which was officially revealed in September 2023.
