Macy's, Inc. (NYSE:M) reported better-than-expected Q4 adjusted EPS and sales results and issued guidance.
Macy's reported a sales decline of 4.6% year-on-year to $8.26 billion, beating the consensus of $8.25 billion. Adjusted EPS of $1.88 beat the consensus of $1.57.

In commodity news, oil traded up 0.7% to $78.24 while gold traded down 0.1% at $1,845.00.
Silver traded down 0.3% to $21.01 on Thursday while copper fell 1.7% to $4.0890.
European shares were mostly higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 rose 0.40%, London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.30% while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index fell 0.06%. The German DAX gained 0.08% French CAC 40 rose 0.55% and Italy’s FTSE MIB Index gained 0.27%.
France’s government budget deficit increased to EUR 21.2 billion in January from EUR 16 billion in the year-ago period.
Asian markets closed lower on Thursday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropping 0.06%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dropping 0.92% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index declining 0.05%. India’s S&P BSE Sensex dropped 0.8%.
Retail sales in Hong Kong rose 5.1% year-over-year in January following a revised 0.6% drop in the prior month. The consumer confidence index in Japan rose to 31.1 in February from 31.0 in the prior month.
