Elon Musk Tweets A Simple Yet Powerful Pro-Marijuana Message, Reaches Millions Around The World

Author: Jelena Martinovic | February 06, 2023 09:57am

One of the most influential CEOs in the world whose statements alone managed to move the needle and create a change has once again expressed his unambiguous support for cannabis.

This time, with just three numbers Elon Musk promoted marijuana for free, reported TheStreet.

His "420" tweet on Saturday resonated with Twitter users worldwide, as over 65 million users have already viewed it. April 20, known as "420," is the unofficial holiday celebrated by marijuana users.

Musk's Outspoken Support For Cannabis

Even though he is not a regular consumer and has said it is not good for productivity, at least not for him, Musk has been asking the right questions to address the need for cannabis policy change. And, as the second-wealthiest person in the world, his words resonate.

Nearly three years ago, at the beginning of the pandemic, he tweeted the following "Selling weed literally went from major felony to essential business (open during a pandemic) in much of America & yet many are still in prison. Doesn't make sense, isn't right."

Also, during Brittney Griner's 10-month ordeal, Musk took a bold stance last July when he shared a meme of a guy with his hands on his hips saying "people in the US in jail for weed while the government trades a Russian war criminal to free a woman's basketball player in jail for weed."

Interestingly, after purchasing Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) in October, where he currently serves as CEO, along with being the CEO of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX, the social platform stopped suggesting to users who searched for specific drug-related words, such as "cannabis," that they might consider getting help for substance use. The feature, which was created in agreement with the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), was suspended in December.
